Welcome to e Spiritu--a website focusing on the everyday spirituality of lay people, especially those who live in a city.

My name is Karen Ball and I am a writer living in Oakland, California. After many years of writing a column for my church newsletter and various types of prayers and liturgy, I have decided to let technology help me expand my audience. What I have developed (with the assistance of webmaster extraordinare, David Brooks) is a compilation of many of the elements of my spiritual life.

The site currently has these rooms to explore: prayers and other liturgical resources, book reviews and study questions, movie reviews and study questions, essays on spiritual life in the city (called "In the Midst of the City"), thoughts on altar building at home and work, and the beginning of an idea exchange on faith and daily life.

Why e Spiritu? E Spiritu is Latin for "from the spirit" or "out of the spirit." I hope you will use this site to discover new insights into what it means to be a spiritual person in today's secular society. In that, we always look to the Spirit for guidance.

If you would like to contribute a book or movie review or ideas about how to live your daily life faithfully, or any other material, or would like to see new areas developed, e-mail me at karen@e-spiritu.com

Keep checking back as the site will continue to grow and expand.
